After rereading, I may be totally incorrect on Alexander being a VMI grad. Don't know where that came from, but he did have a background with military but I don't have the particulars in front of me right now. So scratch that!

Oh, and there were a number of teachers in Smith township but remember there was the female academy as well. So AMI or its non military successor and the girls academy would require a few teachers.
