Just a general comment, but it is my understanding that a "Boarding School" generally did not have classes during the planting and harvesting season (May 1, to October 31). This was the reason that the men's and womens academys at Sulphur Springs were empty and available to be used as Hospital buildings during the summer of 1862.

This seemed to be the same with the Pine Bluff Military Academy at Pine Bluff as to their school year. Was the Arkansas Militay Academy a private school, or a state school? Since it seemed to have been founded by private interests it would have probably followed the same general practise as to the school year also since there was, to my knowledge, no state regulations covering the adminstration of the AMI.
