Some years ago, I was made aware of an event to be held at the location of a "fort" in Germantown, on the railroad south of Poplar Pike and east of Hack's Cross. This was on a Sunday, perhaps an Easter Sunday, as we were headed to a family gathering and did not have the time for anything more than a drive by.

I seem to remember that the "fort" was described as not much more than an earthwork with perhaps an embrasure for an artillery piece.

I don't recall the specific type of event at the location, but it may have just been some Reenactors in period attire at the location. It also could have been a viewing opportunity of recently discovered signs of the "fort."

Wish I could provide more specific information. Perhaps the Memphis Commercial Appeal could be searched for an announcement of the event. You might also consider contacting some of the local Reenactor groups.

Finally, You may want to contact the University of Memphis since they may have been involved in the "dig." If that is what it was.
