Yes, close. McNutt Hill is northeast of Gardner, about 2 miles. If you're looking at a map that has the icons for churches, the box and cross, you should see one for the Baptist church, just off Hwy 121 near Bayou Rapides. Hwy 121 turns northwest after crossing the bayou and Hwy 496 meets it there.

I looked again at my US Geological Survey of the area, and officially, McNutt "Hill" today, is really a series of hills. The whole area of hills covers an area 2 miles by 2 miles and is surrounded by low, flat prairie. But that portion of the "hill" where the old road passed, and where I assume Bee would have placed his guns is near the present-day church.

My mother-in-law, recently deceased, and her aunt, also recently deceased at the age of 103, took me on a tour of the area many years ago. They were both born and raised "on the bayou" as locals refer to those owning property along Bayou Rapides. They played as kids in the old James' Store, built in the 1840's and served as a stagecoach stop along the way. They also pointed out where the original roads were, including the one that passed over McNutt Hill in 1864.

I have personally walked every mile of road that was present in 1864 and that still exists today. That over a 15-year period.
