Thank you so much for trying. Yes abt 1838. The census say he was born in Mississippi. I noticed on the census he uses Sidney I Taylor so that is why I was not sure when I saw S Taylor. Even if I can find some more counties in Mississippi to look it would help. When his daughter was 16 and in an orphanage she said he had been born in Louisiana. The orphanage was in New Orleans. When my Mom tried to get info there in the 1960's she was told they lost all records in a fire. The man who was a student in 1850 census Sidney Taylor said b 1834 and born in Alabama so I am not going with that anymore. In the 1870 census it says he lilved in St Francis, Arkansas Phillips county. It says he was a levee builder. I know this is him by my Grandfather being in the census. He is also mentioned in my Grandfather William Sidney's obit in 1948. Hope that helps. Any suggestions appreciated.
