Re: How to find my Great Grandfather?

I spent a lot of time in Itawamba county because of S. Taylor. Nice place. online that is. Actually my parents were in Centerville, MS when he was training for WWII which I may have already mentioned. We drove by the house my Mom stayed in. I have a letter from my Grandfather William S. who was born in Peoria, Ill. The story goes they traveled back there for him to be born but because Helen's family had lost 2 son's in the War fighting for the North they were told they would not be welcome there anymore. Very sad. From there according to my Mother when she was alive died in 1999 they went to Shreveport, LA to die. They Helen and Sidney or Ira both had Malaria or Yellow Fever which he brought home from the Civil War. So, in 1871 they both died two days apart. I was at our public library today looking into Levee Builder back in 1870 and got a website I will check out and I asked about Malaria and no books could be found and I have looked online but not found what it was like back in 1870. I wonder if they knew what they had even? I guess a Death certificate on one or both would be necessary. Have not found that yet but will keep looking. I did find in Lourdes County town of Centerville 1870 census on 3fold last night Sidney Taylor Negro manager and for wife it had Mrs. Taylor. I think that may be them. I looked at the entire county and came up with three other Taylors. A lot less the Itawamba. Two were Elizabeth Taylor's with teenagers one living with family one not. Then another family. Interestingly, one had a daughter named Izora. Sidney named his daughter Medora. I have no idea if those are Quaker names, or English names. May be a clue. will really look into that right now. Women at the library advised me to keep talking to people as they may be able to think of something I have not. I think I mentioned William and Helen two of Sidney Ira and Helen's children ended up in New Orleans at an orphanage. My mother tried to get records but they were lost due to a fire. James went to Nebraska with an Eamon Uncle James and William around age 11 went there. That Uncle according to my mom paid for her father William to get an education. See, I know a lot from my Mom but I just wanted to prove it and learn more about Sidney's family.
