Do you know what year he enlisted in Yazoo City ? I'm starting to think he may have been in one of the many
independent cavalry units that were formed throughout the State.
Yazoo City/Yazoo County was one of the most active Mississippi areas during the early stage's of Grant's
Vicksburg campaign.(Confederate Navy Yard ,Yazoo River Forts, ect.)
In 1862, one from Itawamba enlisting at Yazoo is plausible.
Also, Yazoo County continued to see action well after the Vicksburg Campaign.
Please understand, the records that still exist can be "incomplete" for various reasons.
Over the years, names were sometimes misspelled by accident : "Taylor" could have
been recored as "Tyler" ect.
However, I'm sure you know that.
Don't give up , you will eventually find the answers .
