Re: How to find my Great Grandfather?

Today on Ancestry I found a Civl War record for a man born in 1802 and went to 3fold which had 1794 on the top of the record. That just sounds too old to me but am I wrong? It was for an I Taylor from Mississippi. It was for the Co C 2Mississippi State Cavalry reserves. He was a prisoner of war it said he was paroled on May 4, 1865 in Columbus, Miss. Said residence Monroe, Mississippi. Ira Taylor was born in 1838 so I guess it's possible he and his father were serving in the Civil War. I never would have thought of that. Did that happen?
