After reading everything on the New Orleans Orphanages I found my Mother was correct they are missing info on 1871 and 72. This is the court system. I read all the other cases just to see how they decided where to place he children. At the Universiy of Southern Mississippi back in the early 1970's I was majoring in Home Economice, Early Childhood Education. I have to tell you it just broke my heart. My Grandfather William was placed in St.Aolhoushous or something close to that. Only one family of children was sent there. I found some photos of one of the other orphanages. Not good. My Grandfather was born in 1868 and this was 1871 so three years old. I taught three year old. I know exactly what stage of developement he was at and it had to be so very hard. I have a letter he wrote when my Mom and Dad were at Centerville, MS and he was remembering how cold it was at the orphange and said they were never dressed warm enough. Breaks my heart. Sorry, to put this here. My husband told me today he thinks it is time I look into our other sides and he is right but as long as I live I promise all of you who have tried to help me I will keep searching for this family. When my husband retires in a few years one of our things we want to do is go back down South. We want to drive around Hattiesburg and we used to go to New Orleans and at least I can do that and maybe get some information then.
