I'm rereading 'Fort Sumter To Perryville" now. I read the trilogy years ago and I find that I didn't understand a thing then. I still cannot say I do but after reading other books and learning from many smart folks here, I do think I can see a larger picture. To my knowledge, I have no Yankee's in the woodpile but my raising was fairly unbiased as to the 'War'. It was just in the last 10 years that I discovered how many ancestors I did have who fought.
It is a very funny circle we travel in. More of a spiral. The more I learn, the larger it gets and goes into another circle. All I wanted at first was to know where GGGrand Pinckney Parker was when he was captured at Gettysburg. That led to a learning experience in Divisions, Brigades and such. Now, I just can't stop digging. My family says I "dig up bones" for fun.
