After countless hours of comtemplation on the post that said The War was truly about slavery, I have come to this thought. Now as silly as this seems just have patience with me while I show my side of the story.

Now imagine the slavery issue wasn't around and the actual issue at hand was eating watermelon in your Underwear. Ok guys here is where you get involved.

Now Jamie and Joe eat watermelon in their underwear and do so whenever they can especially during watermelon season. Well Ole Chase and Kevin think that is positively scandalous and try to stop them from doing it. Jamie and Joe says that it's legal where they live and infact it used to be legal where Chase and Kevin live. Chase says that's beside the point it's immoral and should be stopped. A fight ensues everyone on the News and veiws are taking sides and getting ready for a fight.

Now lets get serious here. What is this fight really about? Eating Watermelon in their Underwear? Someone trying to force someone else to live like they do? Morality?

Countless times you have heard the Old saying,"I may not agree with what you are saying but I'll fight for your right to say it". Right?

So folks The War for Southern Independence wasn't about Slavery. Period. It was about rights. A person's rights to act in a legaly accepted way.

All the additives that went into the secession, boil down to Rights, Period. Slavery was an issue on rights, did the Southerners have the Right to keep slaves.

Today, you may not agree with what I type here, but you will fight for my rights to type it. I have not violated any rules of this board so therefore it can do so. At the time of the War, slavery was legal and to the Southerners and some Northerners moral.

I'm not an apologist for slavery because I accept for what it was. Legal and accepted. Just like Cocaine, which is not legal nor socially acceptable, it was both not too many years ago. During the War slavery was not illegal so why did they fight? Rights, that's why.
