Of all the wars in the history of the world, you would could not find two combatants that were so closely matched ideologically and socially. They had the same religions, had been educated together, the same constitution, language, the same ancestrial and historical origins, the same laws, the same music, about the only thing vastly different was how they made money.
The only portion of the country that was a bit different in social or ideological matters, the odd-man-out, was probably centered at Massachusetts and extended to neighboring states. The rest of the country actually got along just fine in that regard.
