I blame the Indians, I am now convenced beyond all doubt, that being American, be it from the Northern or Southern climes, Western or Eastern shores each can claim its cultural and political roots to those indigenous cultures and governments already in existance when the first Europeans set foot on American soil. It was they that taught our ancestors that humans were all equal in value, how to vote, and freedom was natural; not the Europeans or the Africans.
