That quote from your other post, Boz, would probably require a book to answer. I think a huge number of Southerners retain a Joe Brown mindset. "We ain't sendin' no troops to Virginia 'cause we might need 'em here sometime.", is the figurative response to any suggestion the South should cooperate on a regional project. It seems the SCV, of which I am not a member, so please forgive me, has become politicized to a large degree, as in Georgia, with the flag controversy, or has become set into a rearward looking posture, such that their only concern is preserving the past, without relating that past to the future. You are correct in thinking that if we don't turn toward bridging the past to the future, we will have no input into how our past is seen and taught.

My question end note referred to keeping the Confederate Capitol in Montgomery vice moving it to Richmond during the war, and what might have happened then. Stan
