Michael, I will always be greatful for the Chicago Christian Ladies Society. It is said they brought what we would call care packages to the Rebel troops, at least as long as they were permitted to. I'm also familiar with the conditions the Union troops who moved in after the Rebs were exchanged had to deal with. Nobody had it made in the shade during the war, north or south :-)
