I realize photographs at times can be deceiving but at first glace at the Meade flag the cross seemed too narrow and the stars were smaller than the 5t bunting issue from the Richmond Depot. I am only going by my personal study of the flag of the 51st NC, my gg-grandfather's regimental flag so I am limited in examples (real scientific, eh?). I have posted four flags for comparison: the 51st NC which is a 5th Richmond Depot issue (personal photograph), the Meade flag in question from the Brunk Auctions, WD 252 & WD 249 both of which are confirmed to be Staunton Depot issues in the Museum of the Confederacy. (I hope they don't mind). I wish we had more details of the Meade flag which could help us nail this down. I understood the 2nd National Staunton issues had felt for the fly but the cantons were wool bunting so I assume the battle flag would be wool as well. If your information proves otherwise that would clarifly the origin of the flag. I could be totally wrong here but the Staunton issue looks a awful close match to me but looks can be deceiving.
