The guy that saw the flag last week said that the exterior borders were indeed flannel and not wool bunting. He has bought and sold ANV flags (and other CW flags for that matter) for years and has even owned several. So I have to go with someone who has seen the flag in person and who knows the ANV flags very well and not pictures. He does know the difference between wool bunting and flannel (please keep in mind that I called it wool flannel when it might not be). He also said that the auction company's description of border replacement was pure nonsense based on his examination.

The star separation, width of the stars (4 inches versus the 4 1/2 inches of Fifth Bunting flags) and width of the cross match the two ANV style Staunton Depot flags that the MOC has according to Howie's drawings that I have. Mike Malpass has even called the first ID as an ANV Fifth Bunting into question and this flag more closely matches the two ANV style Staunton Depot flags that he posted here than the 5th Bunting he also posted.

So if it indeed has flannel borders as he told me and they were definitely not replacement borders/hoist edges as I have passed along here, it is indeed a Staunton Depot. I have never heard of an ANV Fifth Bunting with flannel borders.
