As a related part of the Island No. 10 Campaign a Union column attacked the forming 7th Tennessee Cavalry at Union City and took a small First National guidon for Hill's Cavalry, one of the troops of this regiment (former 6th TN Cavalry battalion actually).

This flag, now at the TN State Museum, is marked "Victory or Death."
