Re: Presenting history to the student.

Jim,

I guess when you post here a lot, you get to think that everyone "knows" you in a way. Martin and George would of course be the only ones who know me off the board. I did feel like you were reading motives I did not have. Guess none of us should do mind reading, eh? myself included...I was brought up in a socially progressive (read liberal) family. That is why I'm a Conservative Republican, also religiously conservative but not too pieistic..lol. I'm sure you know the saying a conservative is a liberal who has been mugged. Let me clarify this...my views on race and urban culture are quite conservative. I grew up in the inner city, it's not something I would wish on a child of mine.

Purvis, myself and other social conservatives worked hard on getting news out on the murder and torture of that young couple in Knoxville, it was disheartening to me to see the national news down play this horrific incident. But it's not really unique is it?

I will get Kenneth Noe's book and let you know my take on it. Right now I'm reading a bio on Jackson and of course that book Redemption, The Last Battle of the Civil War when I'm at the store. Wouldn't spend too much money on it.
