Mike, I must admit - had I been standing on the corner of 15th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue at 10:40 AM on the morning of September 30th 1915 when the remnants of the Grand Army of the Republic turned the corner to pass by the Presidential viewing stand, for what everyone understood would be the last time, I would not be able to hold back the tears, nor could I cloak my envy and my jealousy that that same last parade were not taking place in Richmond.

You would be hard pressed to delve through Jim's archives and find even one other instance of how I reacted this morning to your's and Chase's posts. Yet, something about your two posts simply touched a nerve ending in a way no other post has. I took it personally; I tasted the salt, Mike. But that was this morning and now it is Saturday afternoon, a brief shower just fell, cleared the air and all is well with this Gander.
