What makes you think that Arkansas would have stayed a Slave state?

Most of the Slaves in Arkansas were consentrated along the lowere Arkansas and Mississippi River valleys. The North and western portions of the state were basically wilderness and there was little use of slaves in those areas.

If put to a vote, Which it never was, why do you think the 60% plus white non slave owning people would vote to keep slavery as a practise?

According to the 1820 Compromise Arkansas was in effect forced to enter the Union as a slave state. The people did not vote on that. Slavery was a way of life for the large farmers, but not for the "little Man" who made up the majority of Arkansas population in 1860.
