Well, this thread has proven again that we will continue to agree to disagree on the subject of slavery. One periferal point: The source of the money in 1788 was far from the same as that of 1860. The discussion simplified a complex question and transferred power in 1788 from the North to the South in 1860. In fact, except for slaves and the products they produced, mostly cotton, the vast majority of monetary power remained in the North, thanks to the Industrial Revolution. All those mills in the North were the reason cotton was so in demand. The economies of the North and South were interdependent. And that's enough on that subject.
