That is a pretty fair indication they came south to free the slaves. If not then the Mississippi River empties into Lake Erie. The fact is they didn't care at all about the slaves. Fact not opinion.
So? Slavery was legal. The Confederate states was formed in Febuary of 1861, by March 1861, one month, the Confederate Constitution was drawn up and did as much to abolish slavery as the US Constitution did in some 55 years. The interpretation of the US constitution was as much as the cause of slavery as any other issue. The States believed most of the power was given to the states. The Party of Lincoln was for a strong federal government. Fact not my opinion.

I have read the secession papers also that are a different event than the war. The cause of the war is Maj. Anderson's move to Fort Sumter and Lincoln's armed armada putting to sail. You keep banging the same tired old worn out slave and secession drum and it is simply not the cause, read the rest of this thread. Fact not my opinion. Nearly every thread you post to it is the same argument.

We have between us a broader difference than exists between almost any other two races.
