Cump, I remember reading somewhere that the mill operators in Lowwell hired young women to run their looms. The girls liveed nearby and were treated like the children of the owners; they paid attention to their conduct and expected them to act as young ladies of the time should. I don't remember the source nor any other details. Maybe someone will follow up. Stan
