Mallory's Father in Law was a very close friend of my 3xGgrandfather Joseph E. Caro. My Grand was called "The Keeper of the Spanish Archives" He began his career as a clerk but when we became a US territory he transcribed the original records and land grants from Spanish to English. He did this for Mobile also. Those who held grants from the original Spanish settlement submitted them to the US Government and asked for them to be retained. Almost every one was granted and they were able to keep the land.
They were two of the original Spanish families who stayed in Pensacola. Lots of Moreno and Caro decendants runnin around here now.
