That was the beauty of the founders plan of government. That we were to be a "Union" of States rather than one country. That each state would have primary responcibility for the governing of its people and that no state or collection of states could impose their will over another state. That was the only way that the 13 original states would cooperate together to form the UNITED States of America. We are so STUPID today that we have forgotten our own name in this country.

Are we smart enough to relearn that name without another Civil War? I don't know. I look at the general education levels of people in our schools in our larger city in particular and have my doubts. A country can not survive with a 50% dropout rate and those 50% that stay in school not being taught a purpose of government other than to provide them with "Goodies". Everybody wants their 'Forty acres and a Mule'.
