Staunton Depot flag??

Guys,
Have discovered another flag containing "challis
flannel".
Ex Chicago Hist. Soc. (1920.1632)
Now at Milwaukee Pub. Mus (H52667)
An 11 star gerry-mandered St. Andrew's Cross
type flag.
Supposed history has it captured at Williamsburg
in 1862 by a NY unit that did not exist at that time.
Hoist and field made of "challis flannel" according
to Howard Madaus data sheet.
I was told by a textile conservator that there was
no such fabric as "challis flannel".
Madaus apparently did not know what he was
looking at.
Another "Staunton" issue??
