Ken likes to clump us together which is a bit elementary, wanting documentation but not offering any of substance. I do not sign off on what Ken calls the “Milwaukee” battle flag as a Staunton flag, there is a deference between wool (challis) flannel and cotton flannel, Staunton used cotton on their flags. A possibility, but why would Staunton use two deferent flannels in a batch of flags?

Wharton’s Division, Army of the Valley did receive replacement flags lost at Winchester from the Staunton Depot. Howard’s documentation was in his binder when he showed me his files on the Staunton pattern flags in Baltimore , what happened to it when it was transferred to PA and why you and Ken did not find it in his files is unknown to me.

According to Dev. Cannon, Ken was one of the researchers to sign off on Howard’s essay on the Staunton Depot flags. Now he claims it as a unproven theory without a valid explanation or documentation. No evidence has shown up to validate that Richmond or another southern depot sent flags to Staunton for distribution, I guess you can go on a gut feeling or was it just a bad pot of gumbo?

More then likely once this flag or other Staunton flags appear again on this board, it may be easier to link to the past pages.
