Is the pledge (Oath) of Allegiance a mear formality of words, or is it a binding foreswearing? To many it means nothing and is a mear recital of empty words, whose meaning is non binding. To others it is binding as a part of patriotism and national unity.
As far as reciting the Oath of Allegiance, I don't. I respect the formality the same as I do the present day United States flag and will remove my hat come to attention. But that is it.
Matthew, Chapter 5, verses 33 thru 36 reads;
[33] Again, ye have heard that it hath been said by them of old time, Thou shalt not forswear thyself, but shalt perform unto the Lord thine oaths:
[34] But I say unto you, Swear not at all; neither by heaven; for it is God's throne:
[35] Nor by the earth; for it is his footstool: neither by Jerusalem; for it is the city of the great King.
[36] Neither shalt thou swear by thy head, because thou canst not make one hair white or black.
My Bible also tells me that at some time in the future that the United States Government will join with the antichrist in a one world Government.
Can a person give a "Conditional Oath" now and take it back later? If not, why give an oath to pledge my Allegiance to any governmental power in the first place?
I do not pledge allegience to the United States of America because, if I live long enough, My Bible tells me that I will have to resist that same government, in whatever manner that I can, in the future.
