First of all, NO the Declaration of Independence is NOT Legislated LAW. But It is a Declaration of RIGHTS. Among those rights is the right to choose who governs the people in a manner that is best for them.

If You want to throw out the Declaration of Independence as being unimportant in our history then we truely are a Federalist/socialist country like all the other European powers of old which is the type of government that our forefathers fought against.

Under those forms of Government power makes right and Lincoln was correct.

Second there did not seem to be any problem with secession when it was being expounded in the Northern state under President James Monroe in 1812. It was specifically forbidden in the Article of Confederation. How do you forebid any actions that is not assumed to exist?

The 9th Amendment specifically cover ALL right not enumerated. And clearly the right of secession was one of the "Right" documented in the most important founding document of this country written BEFORE the Constitution was ever even concieved.

I need no OTHER documentation to back up the Declaration of Independence.
