Jamie, anyone who has read about Gettysburg must see the valor, courage and bravery of those on both sides. Let me now seem to go off-topic, but I'll get back to the subject. It has been proven that children when left to their own devices will naturally segregate themselves according to race. This does not mean that whites can't be friends with blacks or blacks with whites. It does however show that there is something inside that each group prefers it's own.
Now if you check the postings on this board, you will see that it works the same way with Northerners and Southerners. Why, I honestly don't know. One may speak of slavery or secession being the reason for the war. They were part. However, I believe it was due to a gut dislike of some of those on each side for each other. We are a different people. Not your fault, not my fault, just the way it is. You see how even now, how easy it is for us to grate on each other's nerves. Though mostly of the same race and kindred, we have for some reason developed personas much different from each other. Most folks from the South and Midwest, seem to vote alike, go to the same kind of churches, etc. etc. Yet when we get into a discussion like the war. The same old animosity comes to the fore, just the way it is.
We've both played lawyer by answering a question with a question. Here's one more. Have you ever really liked any Yankee that posted on this board as much as you have your fellow Southrons? Ya don't have to answer that, I think you see my point.
Chase.
