Doyle, in no way did I suggest the Declaration of Independance be "thrown out" as being unimportant in our history.

It is very important for as you say, it states what our Founders enumerated as the Rights that a free people are entitled to and which were denied to the Colonists by Great Britain.

The denial of those rights was then the underlying cause of our Secession from Great Britain. In this sense, those Rights looked backward to life under Great Britain and looked forward in the sense of Goals around which to form a new country.

Many of those Rights were transformed from Goals into Law with the creation of the Constitution. The Right of Secession was not so transformed and the fact that it exists in the Declaration of Inependence in the form of a Right does not constitute Law.

So, I say again - Can you point to any historical document, just one, that even suggests, if not declares that a "Right of Secession" was at any time during the drafting of the Constitution and the Bill of Rights understood by any one involved in any way with the creation of either document to be an Amendment IX "other" non-enumerated right, or is that simply an assumption on your part?
