I do not think that I have in fact changed the subject. I have in fact pointed out that there are things which are implied within our culture that are never directly stated. Yet that does not keep them from being fact. The Constitution and the rule of law states that if an action is not specifically prohibited then it is legal.
Can you see the wind? No but does that mean that just because you do not see the wind that it does not exist.
You are well aware that the "legality" of secession has been discussed many times on this board and you are as aware as I that there is no such document that specifically states that a right of secession either exist or does NOT exist outside of the Declaration of Independence.
Since the principal of secession IS outlined in the Declaration and was at one time prohibited under the Articles of Confederation and that provision was NOT included in the Constitution which superceeded those articles there is more than ample evidence that the right of secession was a valid principal of our forefathers. And since there is NO founding document other than the Articles of Confederation which was abolished and superceeded by the Constitution, which denies or prohibited that such a right, it is a right therefore reserved to the people under the 9th Amendment.
