It is interesting that Corporal Josa Motley was commanding the 2nd Section. Normally that would be a Lieutenant's job, a Sergeant in his absence. This could mean that both his two superiors were gone.

Served as Company C, 14th Battalion Artillery - and so reported as late as Dec. 62'. Soon afterward it became an Independent Battery and served in Roddey's Command in District of North Alabama

The 14th (also known as Montgomery's) Battalion Georgia Light Artillery was organized about May, 1862, with four companies, A to D. In October, 1862, two additional companies appear to have been organized by transfers from other companies of the battalion and were reported as Companies F and G. Captain Wiggin's Battery, Arkansas Light Artillery was temporarily attached to this battalion as Company E. The battalion appears to have been disbanded during the latter part of 1862, or the early part of 1863, and the companies afterward recognized as independent batteries.
