Federal reports mention movements of and contact with Roddey's cavalry command during Wilson's Raid. These refer to the part of the raid from Montevallo to Selma, March 30th to April 2nd, 1865. Ferrell's Battery might have been overrun at Selma and/or Bogler's Creek (April 1st), as reports mention three Confederate artillery commands. Afterwards survivors from this Georgia command may have drifted east in an attempt to go home. As you know, most of Ferrell's men lived just NE of West Point GA.
For what it's worth, Fort Tyler stands on Alabama soil, the eastern side of the fort being on the state line.
