Gentlemen:
My one and only contribution to this "thread" was on 2-12-2012 asking for help to determine records from GA or AL on the death of my GGF William Boon at the Battle of Chickamaunga on September 20, 1863. (this Historical information has a very strong family history, but as yet, I cannot verify it from Official Records and this is what I seek).
I have seen much "to value" in the exchanges that have been made, particularly those from Alan Pitts, Michael Thompson and George Martin. Apparently my email of 2-12-2012 raised some issues regading the disbanding of "Montgomery's 14th GA Artillery Battlion" and also the question of burial of those killed in battle.
While I did not know of, the so called, "secret society",as reportrd by General J. E. Johnson to General on 4-2-1864, I had always wondered why this Battlion was disbanded.
I note that Mr. Alan Pitts ( in his email of 2-14-2012 made his response directly to me, which I appreciate). I note that my email of 2-13-2012 ended with my current email address. ( could be an error in the email address I submitted due to the fact that I use an "underscore" between the "mboone and the jr." - most text programs unline an email address and this obliterates the "underscore", so if somene did try to write me, it would appear on the page as "blank" space.) I apolize for the long explanation, but my goal is to interact personnaly with one of the three gentlemen whom I have listed above. Since Mr. Pitts had relatives who lived in LaGrange, GA and Mr. Thompson also had a relative who served in Capt. Ferrell's GA Light Artilley, I would hope to talk to either of them. I have been researching this problem for many, many years and have extensive records about the area and military unit involved( however my interest have been confined to the period prior to Setember 20, 1863).
