Hello everyone,
I'm new here and was wondering if someone might be able to help me in figuring out what light artillery battery was attached to Dabney Maury's brigade of Samuel Jones's division of Van Dorn's Army of the West when it was in Corinth in May 1862. Was it Lucas's battery ("Jackson Battery"/7th Light Bty. Missouri Arty.)? Or maybe Teel's Texas Battery? I think I know what batteries were in all the other brigades of Van Dorn's army plus there were some batteries in the Artillery Brigade but the battery for Dabney Maury's brigade is the last one that I can't figure out.
Here are some batteries that I'm pretty sure it isn't:
Capt. William Bryan's 5th Arkansas Field Battery which I have as being in Rust's brigade
Gaines's Arkansas battery which I have in Roane's brigade
Wade's Missouri battery which I have in Little's brigade
MacDonald's ("St. Louis") Missouri battery in Evander McNair's/Louis Hébert's brigade
Clark's (King's) Missouri battery in Martin Green's brigade
Good's Texas battery which I have in Hogg's/Cabell's brigade of McCown's division
Provence's Arkansas battery which I have in Churchill's brigade of McCown's division

And out of two differing lists of the batteries in the Artillery Brigade the batteries that are common to both lists are:
Bledsoe's Missouri battery
Guibor's Missouri battery
Landis's Missouri battery

So it would seem that our remaining possibilities for the mystery battery in Maury's brigade would be one of the following, either:
Teel's Texas battery
Lucas's ("Jackson Battery") Missouri battery
Gorham's Missouri battery
Kelly's Missouri battery or
Kneisley's Missouri battery

I lean towards Teel's battery being the one as there were no Missouri infantry regiments in Dabney Maury's brigade at Corinth in May '62, but there were in fact two Texas infantry regiments (2nd and 6th) plus a couple of Arkansas units. Not that this automatically disqualifies the four possible Missouri batteries but in my humble opinion it might make it more likely that it was a Texas battery. Can anybody shed any light on this mystery? Thanks very much in advance.
