You asked-Ranger Parson said that one John Griffith commanded that brigade but I was under the impression that the "brigade" didn't really exist, that it was intended to be formed but that was made impossible when the 15th, 16th and 17th regiments didn't make it across the Mississippi River and instead went to Little Rock. So the 14th was transferred to another brigade (Hogg's/Cabell's brigade?) instead.

You are correct-Stone, Danley, Griffith, Stone again and Ross temporarily commanded what was intended to have been Roane’s Bgde, but not the phantom Bgde of the 14th-15th-16th-17th Tex Cav Regts. As stated, only the 14th crossed the river and joined Van Dorn and was assigned to Cabell’s Bgde. Cabell was the final commander through the battle of Corinth in October.
