Can't find evidence of that anywhere in my notes, but that doesn't make it so. Here is what I do know:

From the Compiled Service Records for this Btry we find a brief history of the unit excerpted here:
Ordered to report to Gen Frost on 3/18/62 , moved with all the Arty to Des Arc arriving 4/8. After arriving at Memphis on 4/12, it camped at Fort Pickering and was refitted. Moved to Corinth on 5/13 where it was moved around to the different positions occupied by the Army of Tenn. On arriving at Corinth the Btry was ordered to report to Gen Rust, Jones Div, Army of the West which Bgde was afterward commanded by Cabell and the Division by Maury. Army retreated from Corinth to Baldwin where all the Arty was placed in a Bgde under Lt Col J. Major remaining as such till 7/3 when again ordered to Cabell’s Bgde…On 9/27 was assigned to Martin’s Bgde.

The records show that William Lucas, a Captain of Company O, 2nd Regiment Artillery (8th Division), Missouri State Guard, Confederate States Army, entered the service 28 August 1861, aged 34 years and born in Jacson County, Independence, Missouri. No later record of him has been found as a member of that organization.

The records also show that William Lucas, a Captain of Captain Lowe’s Company (Jackson Battery), Missouri Artillery, Confederate States Army, entered the service 1 January 1862, at Springfield, Missouri.

His name appears on an undated roll of the organization which the following remark: "Enlisted in M.S.G. May 23/61. Acted as Captain of Battery 4 months 9 days. Was left out at reorganization Sept 10/62 was ordered to trans Miss Dept where he was captured & died in prison. Engaged at Carthage, Oak Hills, Lexington, Elk Horn, Farmington and Iuka."

II-Campbell’s Bn of Cav, Capt Reeves Co & Capt Kennerly’s Btry are detached from the 3rd Bgde and the two first named will report to Gen Green
III Brooks’ Bn of Cav, Kennerly’s Btry and Capt Bennett’s Cav will report to the cdr of the Arty Bgde
VI Maj M Lewis Clark CSA will assume command of the Arty Bgde
VII The cdr of the Arty Bgde will at once equip completely the Btrys of Capt McDonald and Kennerly as field Btrys of 6 pieces each.
VIII The cdr of the Arty Bgde will cause the Missouri Btrys in his command to be consolidated on the 26th instant that each company shall contain at least 70 privates.

5/7/62 Post commander at Memphis reports to Beauregard the departure of M L Clark for Corinth this evening

5/10 M L Clark announced as chief of arty A of W

5/13 -Lucas/Lowe Mo Btry-to Corinth. On arrival ordered to report to Rust’s Bgde/Jones Div & later to Cabell Bgde. From Corinth to Baldwyn where all arty organized into a Bgde under Lt Col J. P. Major

6/23 Hqs Arty Bgde to Maj Bradford-In reply to yours of this date calling attention to what appears a very considerable discrepancy in my last report-the report itself contains the full explanation.
So that you may the more readily perceive the cause of the difference between the agg and last agg, I place the figures in columns of gain and loss
The report shows a gain of 237 which is accounted for as follows:

By reference to the report for week ending 6/18, you will see that no report was rec’d from Wade or Clark which is the reason that there is no last agg for report ending 6/22. This failure upon their part was made the subject of a special correspondence of 6/15 to Hqs and now on file in your office.
The arms alluded to in 2nd par of your letter were appraised then the appraisal list sent to the then acting ord officer of the A of W & afterwards returned to me w/instructions-the list & instructions were turned over to the ord officer of the division
