I've tried to address all of your issues as best as I can.

Regarding Roane's Brigade, I have already replied to your question with a full list of the various commanders of that Brigade. With so many responses in the thread, perhaps you overlooked this one, so I repost it here under a new subject heading.

Roane was assigned by Van Dorn to remain behind in Arkansas in command at Little Rock

5/4 Pine Bluff, Gen Roane to Van Dorn of TM Dist-I write you from this place, where I have been shipping troops from Tex. After having shipped you all the Regts and Co’s I could find in reach, and directing each shipment to report to you, I now submit that I have just received dispatches from the Gov of Ark and my adjutant of the fact that the enemy had reached Grand Glace, on White River, with their advance, and calling on me to take steps for the defense of the State. It is my opinion that I cannot with safety send any more troops out of this river, believing they may fall into the hands of the enemy, and that the valley of the Ark and the whole State is in danger of being overrun by the enemy. If his progress can be staid until you can fight the battle of Corinth, we can then expect you here with what aid you can bring, and your own experience and superior knowledge, to drive them out of the State. It is possible to make some resistance, as there are still some resources to be availed of, and, in the absence of further orders from you, I shall proceed to act as I believe you would order, and as I believe is for the public interest. The Tex Regt, said to be on its way here, cannot get to you, and I will employ them with all other means I can control to oppose the enemy until otherwise ordered. What further steps I shall take to raise proper force, and to concentrate means and material for that purpose, I can better determine when I reach Little Rock, to which point I shall repair immediately...

5/11 A of the West, Maury to Gen Roane-I am directed by Gen Van Dorn to say that he wishes you to assume command of the forces for the defense of the State of Ark. You will please therefore at once take proper steps to organize and put into the field all troops of that State brought into service under the conscript law and all Cav forces from Tex and from N La who may come into Ark to report to Van Dorn. All the Co’s of Parsons' Regt of Cav which may have come over the Ms will be ordered back at once. Any Infy troops who may come into the State or who may be already organized there to serve under Van Dorn will be forwarded to his army as rapidly as possible. Steps will be taken at once to furnish you with all ordnance stores which may be necessary.

“Roane’s” Brigade was led at various times by: Roane [on paper], Stone, Danley, Griffith, Stone again, Frost [on paper], and Ross temporarily. Phifer was appointed acting Brig Gen in early June and would command the Brigade through the Battle of Corinth in October, 1862

Frost-5/6 S O #76 Camp McIntosh-IV Gen Frost having reported for duty is assigned to the command of Roane’s Bgde & will report to Gen Jones cdg Div
Just like Roane, I don’t believe Frost ever actually took command of the Brigade because two days after this order, another order was issued:
5/8 Frost announced as Brig Gen & IG to Bragg cdg Army of the Miss

5/26 Jones’ Div-Special Orders-Col Laurence S. Ross will immediately assume command of Roane's Bgde, Jones' Division, Army of the West.
{Col Ross, declined the honor, and prevailed with Gen Jones to allow him to remain in command of his own reg’t [6th Tx DC] & Gen Phifer was subsequently placed in command of the bgde.}

6/1—[9th Tex] Make a pretty good march & camp at "Camp Ingram" & while here reorganized the Brig (under Col Ross for the past few days) & it consists of 6th & 9th Tex Cav, 3rd Ark Cav & Stirman's Ark Bn Cav & Gen C. W. Phifer is in Command

6/3 Phifer apptd as acting B Gen

6/5 HQs Army of the West, Camp Ingraham, Kimmel to Gen C W Phifer-You are hereby apptd Brig Gen subject to the approval of the President and you are assigned to the command of the 2nd Bgde, Maury’s Div.
[This just has to be an error because I believe that Phifer took over a reorganized Bgde that had been Roane’s & was the 3rd & not the 2nd]
