Well, yes, they did, but that's no reason to expunge them from the study of US history. Once we start running everything through some contemporary PC filter, what's to be learned ultimately? And I don't see a lot funds needing to be spent on Lee, Jackson et al, whatever he meant by that. Apparatchiks like Alvin Holmes are doing more harm than good. Why can't they just disappear into the fabric of society, get a real job someplace and leave us the h--- alone?
