In the secession crisis, I have seen hardly anything about "Taxes" but you read a lot about the slavery issue. The Texas "A declaration of the causes which impel the State of Texas to secede from the Federal Union" document, I see nothing mentioned about taxes.

I know of the "Tariff of Abominations" problem of 1828-1832 period, where things got real hot between S. Carolina, and the Congress/President...

I see more about the Slavery issue, and the "Black Republicans"...can you enlighten us on the tax issue in 1860-61?
