Never said they did. That is your standard response to the assertion that the southern states seceded to protect slavery.
Sure it is because it is fact. I never said that slavery wasn't an issue with secession, I said it wasn't the only issue.

No, the southern states just said they would secede to keep the slaves. It was individual politicians, newspapers, snd various fire-eaters that said they would fight to keep the slaves.
