I am always cheered when I see the Southern side of history related and debated with intellectual clarity. When I read columns such as the one for which you wrote your rebuttal, I do not have to wonder where the person was educated. It's just like geology text books starting out with, "Billions and billions of years ago . . ." I know what follows is a public school inculcated fairytale. The same is true of "history" that begins with, "Lincoln fought to free the slaves . . ." or "The war was about slavery . . ."
I think that we may be entering an age when people are so tired of the same line of bologna that comes from the government-run schools and media that they are tantalized to read articles like yours that leave them with the feeling, "I suspected something was wrong with the standard line, and now my doubts are confirmed." Then again, based on some of the ignorant comments posted here I think some are still standing in line for their "hope and change."
