In my opinion Longstreet was a good second when under lee's direction and leadership. But fell short as an independent commander in the two occations (Suffork and Knoxville) that he was detached from Lee. His involvement in the contriversy in the Army of Tennessee over Braxton Bragg command did not demonstrate real leadership in my opinion.
