Yet, their muster out roll states:

Captain W. W. Cato's Company K, Second Cavalry Regiment, Georgia State Guards, Army of the Confederate States

Does that not then, consider that they did in fact enter Confederate service?

February 1.— Company muster-out roll of Captain W. W. Cato's
Company K, Second Cavalry Regiment, Georgia State Guards,
Army of the Confederate States, commanded by Colonel J. B.
Wilcoxon from August 1, 1863 (when last mustered) to February
1, 1864.
I certify, on honor, that I have carefully examined this
muster roll, and that I have mustered and minutely inspected the
company, the condition of which is found to be as expressed in
my remarks hereunto annexed, and that I mustered it out of ser-
vice January 31, 1864.
