Great job at reserach Alan, your finds have convinced me that W.T. and W.Y. Mooty were one of the same. The Militia districts appear to be the same as the 1864 Georgia census, as they too are broken down by Militia districts. I did find on family search where someone made an application for a government tombstone for William Y. Mooty between 1925-1941. Because of George's post we now know it was probably 1930 or after because of the iron cross inscription on the stone. (Which continue to this day) Because of Tom's measurements on the two tombstones, William Y. and Mary E. Mooty it appears they were slightly different which leads me to believe that Mary's tombstone although she has the iron cross on her tombstone probably was not of government issue, but rather privately purchased.
