George, W.Y. Mooty is the man we are looking for. I do not see a connection between W.T and W.Y at this time. William Y. Mooty is what is on the head stone. But since Dennis has given me several avenues of research, I will see if they are one in the same, or possibly kin. Thanks again for all your help, this is just one of those mysteries that does not mean much, but now that I have gotten started on this, I am getting more interested in finding out all I can about this man and his wife. When I was a kid, my dad's best friend was a Mooty, and he explained the name. Apparently at one time they were all spelling their name Moody, but some where long ago there was a big family fued so some of them started spelling their name as Mooty, so as to not be associated with the name Moody. And it all started with a short stop at the Mooty Cemetery just to see if there were any Confederate veterans buried there. thanks again, tom
