It appears that Williams brother, J. P. Mooty, also married a Mary E. in 1864.

Man it is really getting deep now. I am planning a trip to the archives in LaGrange tomorrow, and hopefully I will have enough time to get even deeper in this whole family. Someone (either you or Alan) posted the name Mooty was rare. I looked in the phone book in LaGrange, and there are only 2 listed. I was hoping to find more wanting to find someone that had done some research on the family, but will have to see about that later to.
Right now I am shoulder deep into all these questions about headstones and the variances we are finding, but I am still looking at the Mooty's also. This is normal for me, and I would imagine anyone else that does any type of research, but when I start on one thing it ALWAYS leads to several different topics, and then those lead to several more topics, and so on and so on until it comes to a point that you have to say whoa, and focus only on one at a time.... but I guess that is why we all do it, for the challenge of it and the satisfaction of finding answers to 100 year+ old questions.
