Chief, I'm not saying that we don't have the right to complain about government policy. My gripe is with those who posture and rant about evil government in general, while enjoying its protection, benefits and services.
Those of us who worked for Uncle Sam know better than anyone the good, the bad and the ugly of the Federal government, but we also know that the instances of over-reaching by Government are always the result of actions by Congress and the President, usually in response to pressure from special interest groups. Government can't do anything unless it's part of a law enacted by the Congress and signed by the President. Where we run into problems is when the President or the Supreme Court read more into the law than was originally intended.
There's an old saying, "People get the kind of government they deserve." Instead of ranting about "The Government", people should focus their attention on our representatives and presidents who tell government what to do.
